On April 29, 2017 the lakes and steams in Inyo, Mono and Alpine counties will open for fishing. On a special note, the rivers leading into Lake Tahoe do not open until July 1, 2017.

Strong thunderstorms, flash flooding develop over Storey, Lyon and Washoe counties
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 07/01/2015 - 4:21pmUPDATE 6:10PM: A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for South Central Washoe County, Northwestern Lyon County and Storey County until 9 p.m. At 5:58 PM Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing heavy rain across the area. A flash Flood is expected within the areas.

Another series of strong thunderstorms have developed south of Carson City along the Eastern Sierra and Highway 395 corridor this afternoon and appear to be pushing northward, bringing heavy rain and the potential for flooding, a National Weather Service forecaster said.

Multiple wildland fires reported throughout Northern Nevada, Sierra

Fires were also reported in Alpine County near Markleeville and Grover Hot Springs.
