Although it has been serving customers since June, The Union Carson opened with little fan-fare until Thursday night when a ribbon-cutting and grand opening bash was held at 302 North Carson Street as a fundraising benefit for the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada and The Greenhouse Project.

There have been quite a few exciting changes to downtown this year. What began 12 years ago as a music celebration in the back parking lot at Cafe at Adele’s has now grown past the confines of John Street — adjacent to the restaurant — and moves this year to Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Since 2008, The Greenhouse Project has grown petunias featured each year in the flower baskets that hang in Carson City’s downtown historic district.

The all-new Union Carson eatery, taphouse and coffee bar is scheduled to open Thursday, June 8 at 11 a.m., the establishment posted on its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.

The community is invited to the annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale, hosted by The Greenhouse Project, Saturday, May 13, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Carson High School in Carson City.

A new restaurant is opening in downtown Carson City, according to reports from the Reno Gazette-Journal and Nevada Appeal.

The Union — a partnership of Reno-based investors — is scheduled to open this summer at 302 North Carson Street, site of the old Lake Tahoe Brewing Company, which closed in January 2016 ahead of its owner Michael Candelario's arrest on fraud charges.
