UPDATE: This event has been canceled due to upcoming storms through the weekend. The following is from the Sheriff's Office: Due to anticipated cold, wet, windy weather conditions Carson City Sheriff’s Office regrets to inform the community of the cancellation of the Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party which was scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to the National Weather Service a slight chance of showers and potential for wind is predicted. Unfavorable weather conditions may cause significant disruption in the planned outdoor activities. The event cannot be relocated indoors as accommodations are limited. Staff of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank those interested in attending and appreciates the community’s support.

The 16th annual Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party, hosted by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, will be held Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office administration building, 911 East Musser Street.

Public safety, awareness and community are at the center of this popular annual spring event where the theme is “Cops and Kids: Where the Community and Law Enforcement Come Together.”

Trying to think of ways to give back to the community, Kathy Dean and Nicole Litherland of The Dean Team decided the best way to do that is to donate a portion of their commissions to Carson City area animal organizations. And this isn't a short campaign, but a lifelong career cause.

24-hour ride in Carson City cycles in donations of more than $1,000 for Boys and Girls Club

Indoor cyclists burned at least 2,000 calories and rode about 50 miles within the first 20 minutes at Life Cycle Elite Spin Studio's 24-hour community ride Friday.

The event was organized by Jill Larson, who coordinated with the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Nevada and the Healthy Habits Program.

The community’s team members and residents selected the Northern Nevada Veterans Resource Center (NNVRC) and presented a $3,750 check to Justin Chavez, Regional Site Director and Cristina Crawford, Program Support Manager on Feb. 15.

Sassabration celebrates diversity at fourth annual festival in Carson City

The fourth annual Sassabration is happening now through Saturday evening in the parking lot of Carson Hot Springs Resort, 1500 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

The 11-hour diversity festival, co-hosted this year by Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, Carson Hot Springs Resort, and Shoe Tree Brewing Company, started at noon Saturday and runs until 10 p.m. tonight.
