The national nonprofit, Feeding Pets of the Homeless, welcomed Sierra Veterinary Hospital in Carson City as its first donation site a decade ago. Since then the hospital has collected more than 1,600 pounds of pet food and supplies from their clients and the community.

Each day, Nevada Humane Society has dozens of cats and kittens arrive at the shelter. This time of year, those numbers are especially high — and right now your help is needed as the supply of cat and kitten food is running critically low.

When the Brower Family purchased the local Arby's franchise, located at 1122 South Carson Street, in June 2017 they had it in mind all along to use it as a vehicle to invest in their community.

Dayton, Nevada – This week’s Dayton Food Pantry news includes recognition for three groups that recently contributed to the Pantry: Volunteers in Policing (V.I.P.s), Girl Scout Service Unit 625, and the Misfits Theater Group. Dayton Food Pantry manager Alie Trier said, “This Thanksgiving we were so grateful for the hundreds of turkeys and hams, side items, and checks donated by the community. Now we even have enough to provide more than 500 more familes with spiral hams for Christmas. Thank you awesome community members!”

Grocery Outlet presented Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, with a donation of more than $2,000. The Carson City Outlet continues to be an active partner with the Food Bank at FISH.

The Carson City Grocery Outlet provided food donations valued at nearly $10,000 in the last fiscal year ending June 30, 2016.

“Without this type of community help, so many people would go to bed hungry.” said Liz Patterson, FISH Food Bank Manager.

The Interfaith Community of Carson City will host the eighth annual interfaith potluck picnic and food drive on the lawn of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Monday, September 5, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to share food, conversation, music, and fun activities with community members of all faiths.

Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, has announced two job opportunities that have become available. The organization is dedicated to serving the needs of the homeless and hungry individuals and families in Carson City.

Caliber Collision created Rhythm Restoration Food Drive as a way to assist our local food banks. During the summer, children who receive school lunches will turn to food banks, and collecting food for these families is one way to serve our Carson City community.

As a celebration of the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ this Easter, the local congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a free live broadcast of Handel’s Messiah performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square on Friday, March 25, 6 p.m. PST. This special broadcast will be available at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ chapel at 411 N Saliman Drive, Carson City, Nev.

It’s Presidents Day weekend with a Valentine’s Day cherry on top. There is still time for some shopping if you’re looking for something for your special someone. Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery hosts its annual Champagne and Jewelry party Saturday and offers some amazing hand-crafted bling for your sweetheart. Carson Mall is another great bet for last minute gifts.
