The Jukebox International Film Festival is the place music and flicks collide, bringing enthusiasts and artists together from across the country to the capital city for three days, offering free showings, meet-and-greets and more.

Hollywood screenwriter to hold workshop at Brewery Arts Center March 2

The workshop will take place Saturday, March 2 in the Brewery Art Center’s 1864 Grand Ballroom from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sean Mick studied filmmaking, history, and analysis at Sonoma State University in Northern California, then continued his training through seminars with some of the best screenwriting “gurus” in Hollywood, including Robert McKee.

Local filmmakers were challenged earlier this month to make short horror films in exactly one week.

Registration underway for 2016 Carson City Creepy Short Horror Film Competition

On Oct. 19 at 12 noon, all registered teams will receive their prompts — a prop, a sound effect and a line of dialogue. Exactly one week later, they must turn in their finished short horror film ranging between 5 and 8 minutes in length.
Carson City high school seniors present final projects

“I designed and built a windmill,” he said. “It tied straight in to what I want to do, and it looked a lot of fun.”
Johnson joined his fellow Carson High School seniors on Monday, presenting their final projects to a of panel judges made up of Carson City community members.

Films are either short documentary or mockumentary and are between 1 and 10 minutes long. The event is hosted by the Brewery Arts Center, Wired Wednesday and Carson TV. The crawl is open to everyone, and includes film viewing, specials, entertainment and more.

Midnight deadline tonight to register for BAC's St. Patrick's-themed filmmaking competition
Submitted by editor on Sat, 02/07/2015 - 8:19pmThe Brewery Arts Center, Carson TV and Wired Wednesday Digital Arts Club announce a new film competition, the first "St. Paddy's Film Crawl: A Short Filmmaking Competition" with screening and judging March 14. Registration deadline has been extended to midnight, Wednesday, March 4.
Films cannot be less than 1 minute or more than 10 minutes in length. They must utilize one fact about St. Patrick's Day and can be Documentary or Mockumentary in nature.
Team entry deadline nears for Carson City short film competition
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 07/07/2014 - 12:42pmThe Citywide Short Film Competition, hosted by the Brewery Arts Center, Carson City Access Television and the Nevada Arts Council, is less than two weeks away. Teams must register by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. It is free to enter and participate.
Organizers of this second annual event are looking for budding filmmakers of all ages. The week-long short film competition runs from noon Friday, July 25 to noon, Friday Aug. 1.
