A community that shares is a community that cares. Capital City residents, known to go above and beyond in their generosity during the holiday season, are invited to participate in this Friday's 22nd annual Carson City Turkey Drop hosted by the Salvation Army, Max Casino and KKFT 99.1.

Feed a family in need this Thanksgiving by donating to the Salvation Army's 22nd annual Carson City Turkey Drop on Friday, Nov. 22 at Max Casino, 900 S. Carson Street.

Many joys come with Christmas and the holiday season. Good food, the company of family and friends, observing the joy of children opening presents, good music and the anticipation of the new year to name just a few.

A special aspect of the season for us is the spirit of giving. We use this time to provide more help than usual for both folks less fortunate and for charitable organizations that do good works in our communities. We know we are blessed to have the means to do so.

Northern Nevada Dream Center has teamed up with Carson High School's Culinary Arts program to help feed families. You can support the Culinary Arts team by letting them bake your Thanksgiving pies. You can order them Friday and Saturday at the Carson High School Craft Fair.

The Northern Nevada Dream Center is partnering with CHS Culinary Arts students for the 5th annual Pie to the Rescue.

Students from the awarding winning Carson High School Culinary Arts program will be joining some of Northern Nevada’s best chefs in baking pies to help feed those in need this holiday season.

Join Capital Christian Center in supporting families in need this holiday season as dozens of Northern Nevada’s best chefs, from local restaurants, donate their time and talent to bake fabulous Thanksgiving pies for the 3rd Annual Pie to the Rescue.

Choose from three delicious pies, pumpkin, pecan or apple, place your order and then pick up your pies, on Wednesday, Nov. 27, in time for Thanksgiving.

Buy a Pie, Feed a Family! Pie to the Rescue, a consortium of more than 20 Carson City chefs who are donating their time and talent to bake Thanksgiving pies, will be taking orders at the Greenhouse Garden Center Christmas Open House, 2450 South Curry Street, Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the Ron Wood Community Essentials Food Bank, the Family Vision Food Truck and the Our Time Outreach Center. One delicious pie contains a “Golden Harvest” ticket and you may win a beautiful diamond angel necklace.
