CARSON CITY — Governor Brian Sandoval announced Wednesday the hiring of Kathryn Reynolds as General Counsel, which has been effective as of August 28, 2017.

Tuesday the Executive Board voted to remove Assemblyman PK O'Neill from the Carson City Republican Party. There has been much press and he has a very good writer who accentuates his few highly selective non-controversial votes while in the legislature and ignores the bulk of his decisions. Obviously our action is not due to his non-challenging votes but rather his many dubious ones. He does not acknowledge his campaign promises. He does not discuss attending a CCRP meeting at which he asked for our direction on this tax issue.

The Nevada Division of Tourism, also known as TravelNevada, recognized outstanding members of the state’s rural tourism industry Thursday, April 16 at the VolunTourism Awards dinner at the Carson Valley Inn. The annual event was part of the state’s 25th Rural Roundup tourism conference.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Republican Party Executive Board on Saturday passed a resolution calling for rebellious members of the Assembly GOP caucus to unite or face recall elections. The resolution targets any efforts to usurp the duly-elected leadership of the Assembly.
It admonishes any Assembly Republicans who are working against their own caucus leadership to “stop these destructive actions or face their own recall election.”

LAS VEGAS — Six-hundred or so of the state’s Democratic party faithful this morning attended their annual state convention at the Bally’s Hotel conference center in Las Vegas. Five-hundred sixty-two delegates were credentialed but about two dozen vendors lined both sides of the room and guests were also welcomed.

The chief justice of Texas’ Supreme Court said at a forum last week that he supported a ballot measure before Nevada voters to change the way judges are chosen. A legal scholar from Vanderbilt University argued against the measure at the same forum, held at the Boyd School of Law on the campus of UNLV.
Both brought unique perspectives. Texas is a state that elects its judges who collect campaign donations from those who may appear before them creating bright-line conflicts-of-interest.
