Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Wednesday that he will call the Legislature into Special Session beginning Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 a.m. to take on the potential for a stadium in Las Vegas for the Raiders football franchise.
The proclamation detailing the agenda will be released on Sunday. Sandoval issued the following statement:

President Barack Obama was cheered enthusiastically Wednesday at the 20th Lake Tahoe Summit, an annual gathering of federal and state leaders from California and Nevada who are dedicated to protecting the Sierra's crown jewel.

"I've never been here," President Obama told the crowd Wednesday at Harvey's Outdoor Arena in Stateline. "Its not that I didn't want to come, but nobody invited me."

The President quipped he's sure to return, "though my transportation won't be as nice."

State Treasurer Dan Schwartz will be speaking at the Carson City Republican Women’s Club monthly luncheon to discuss the controversial Education Savings Accounts (ESA) which enable school choice for parents to meet their child’s unique needs.

The proposal would conserve sage-grouse habitat in Nevada while providing economic development opportunities to industries and local governments throughout the state.

Young Delta smelt abundance this year roughly doubled when compared to last year but is a small fraction of their historical abundance, state biologists say. The improvement is likely due in large part to higher than usual flows from the San Joaquin and Sacramento rivers this year which resulted in better habitat conditions and water quality.
