As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

Here’s an events lineup of what's happening around the Carson City region for the 2019 Memorial Day weekend. More events will be added as information becomes available.

May is Wildfire Awareness Month in Nevada and an appropriate time to discuss ways to protect your home and property. "Firescaping" is landscape design that reduces house and property vulnerability to wildfires. The goal is to develop a landscape with a design and choice of plants that enhance the aesthetics of the property while creating a defensible, survivable space around the home.

Join Carson Animal Service Initiative this Saturday in Carson City for an evening of music, wine, appetizers, and auctions, both silent and live, all to help animals in need.

The Senior Celebration held Thursday at the Casino Fandango Ballroom in Carson City went off without a hitch with festivities including raffles, a cake walk, live entertainment, medical screenings and more.

The 21st annual Senior Celebration is coming to the new ball room of the Casino Fandango in Carson City on Thursday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event is Northern Nevada’s largest health and information fair in honor of Older American month. Senior Celebration is a free event with over 70 senior living experts who will be gathering to share information about their products and services.

Heading into Tuesday, May 7, 2019 we are looking at another picture perfect day for a morning or evening stroll with Carson City's own Muscle Powered and a bevy of events, including a chamber digital marketing workshop, Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City Chapter meeting and open house, family movie and craft night at the Carson City Library, a filmmaking discussion followed by a showing of the classic "12 Angry Men" at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall and more. Hello Carson City. We're heading into Sunday, April 28, 2019 with another fabulous Spring day ahead with highs in the low 70s. Events lined up include a cancer center benefit bow shoot hosted by Clear Creek Bowmen, a Muscle Powered bike ride, a Bee City USA Earth Week presentation, an open house at the Wungnema House in Mills Park, a Carson City Symphony concert and more. Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. The Carson High School Speech and Debate team is inviting the community to Flavors of India between 5 - 6:30 p.m., 1105 S. Carson St., Carson City.

Come enjoy delicious food, live entertainment and great conversations.

They are raising money to send qualifying students to the National Speech and Debate competition in Dallas, TX, this June.

Celebrating its 35th season, the Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, presents a “Family Matters” concert on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William Street in Carson City. Featured guest soloist, violinist Gregory Maytan, will perform the United States premiere of the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, written in 1875 by Swedish composer, Amanda Maier.

New this year, Wired Wednesday Digital Artists will present a brief film-making discussion prior to our films, beginning at 6:00p. This month's topic - Lighting for dark films.

In an era where students are more comfortable communicating behind a screen rather than face-to-face, teaching Physical Education can be more than challenging at times. It seems that each year there are fewer students who enjoy physical activity. This year has been no different.
