Carson City weekend arrests: Man jailed after being stopped in stolen Jeep

A 19-year-old man was arrested early Sunday on felony suspicion of grand larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and other charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A brief ceremony was held Monday at the Carson City Sheriff's Office building to honor Deputy Carl Howell who died in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence call a year ago on this date, August 15, 2015.

The ceremony was attended by Howell's family members, sheriff's office staff and personnel, the Carson City Fire Department and city leaders.

I really hope I’m not required to choose a favorite event. I would be hard pressed to choose between the Nevada Day Parade and the annual Taste of Downtown. Luckily, I can adore them both, and for much the same reason. They are a celebration of community, of Carson City, of our historic downtown and all that it has to offer. In addition to 'The Taste', the Brewery Arts Center goes country with the Southern Drawl Band on its outdoor stage, and Madam Curry leads another downtown Ghost Walk. Carson City’s tastiest event coming up Saturday, July 23

There’s a reason that “Taste of Downtown” holds true to its name. Dozens of Carson City restaurants will participate in this evening event, giving residents and visitors alike the chance to sample food, dig into unique dishes and get a feel for the vibe of the local cuisine.

Whether it’s burgers, nachos, tamales, or Thai food, participants are likely to find it in downtown Carson City on July 23, the date that “Taste” is scheduled in honor of its 23rd year. Restaurants like “The Thick Slice Pizza,” “Red’s Old 395 Grill,” and “Yang’s Kitchen” are taking part.

Advocates to End Domestic Violence honor Taste of DownTown anniversary with ticket offer

This Saturday would have traditionally been the date of the 23rd Taste of DownTown, hosted by Advocates to End Domestic Violence. However, the date has been changed to July 23.

In honor of Advocates' would-be 23rd anniversary, the first 23 people who purchase tickets online this Saturday, June 18, will receive a free Advocates to End Domestic Violence water bottle.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office was handed the baton this Wednesday afternoon in the final leg of the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Run which began April 27 in Las Vegas.

Carson City sheriff’s log: Five jailed on felony charges in connection with vehicle theft

Five people were arrested Friday on various felony charges after a vehicle was reported stolen from a Nevada Street residence, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
