Boy Scout Troop 33 Send a Scout to Camp Car Show Fuji Park August 18 2018

Please join us at the Boy Scout Troop 33's fifth annual Car Show to be held on August 18, 2018 at Fuji Park in Carson City. Doors open at 8 a.m., show starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. with trophies presented at 3 p.m.

There will be food which is cooked by the famous Warren Engine Co. No. 1 on Carson City and will include barbecue hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and chili dogs with chips drink and cookie.

There will be two live auctions during the show with some very nice items.

It is finally Friday. As August melts away, it brings us closer to the new school year. Carson High returning students are invited to the Senator Kick-off this morning to get their fill of back-to-school updates. Families will love the Movie in the Park; bring a blanket or chairs and come prepared to enjoy ‘Coco.’ Three days of high-flying fun begins today at Heritage Park in Gardnerville as the Splash Dogs competition gets underway. You will always find live music around town on Fridays, but during the Jazz and Beyond Festival, it seems like music is everywhere.

The Jazz and Beyond Music Festival is in full swing, so you’ll find plenty of music around.

The 16th annual National Night Out, or as some like to call it, “Crime’s Going Away Party,” was held Tuesday evening in Mills Park and an excellent time was had by law enforcement and the public alike, demonstrating their commitment to the partnership between the community and law enforcement agencies.

Come out and join us for free hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Meet outside the entrance to Silver Saddle Ranch on Carson River Road.

Bring a friend and/or friendly dogs. All hikes are 2-4 miles with duration of about 90 minutes, sometimes with elevation gains of 500’ or more. Water and sturdy or athletic shoes are required. Hat, sunscreen and hiking poles recommended. Some trails are dirt and others are paved. In case of bad weather, we will cancel.

Muscle Powered Saturday Hike to Tahoe Rim Trail, North from Spooner Summit

Join us on this Muscle Powered leader-led hike to Tahoe Rim Trail, North from Spooner Summit to the saddle of Snow Valley Peak. This is a beautiful hike with some spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area. It is a 11-mile round-trip hike to Snow Valley Peak saddle on the Tahoe Rim Trail. The hike will be quite an uphill climb going out and downhill coming back. This is a strenuous hike for experienced, fit hikers only. Plan on approximately six hours for the hike. From the trailhead at the Spooner Summit to the saddle is 1800 feet.
