Horse advocates in the Dayton area say there was a Bureau of Land Management roundup that happened Tuesday off of Dayton Valley Road. According to a number of people on the Facebook social media page Dayton Nevada News and Information, the roundup involves several horses the advocates say were put into pens.

The Dayton Farmers Market has opened for the 2018 summer season. The market takes place every Saturday through September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 60 Second Avenue and Highway 50.

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "Works: Some Water Some Welded," with artwork by artists Susan Glaser Church and Stephen Reid at the city’s Sierra Room located in the Community Center, 851 E William Street, Carson City. Dayton, Nevada – Healthy Communities Coalition’s Dayton Food Pantry, located on Enterprise Way and Highway 50 in Dayton, will remain open during its normal hours of 10a.m. - 4p.m. Monday through Thursday during the holidays.

The distribution of USDA Commodities will continue as normal on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Sutro Elementary from noon to 3pm.

Volunteers in Policing, Lyon County Sheriff's Department, Smith's Grocery Store, donors, and community volunteers contributed to the event that resulted in the collection of $480 in cash plus over $700 worth of food items for the Dayton Food Pantry in just 4 hours on July 9th, 2016 at Smith's Grocery.
