Little tan chihuahua hit on Highway 395 near Carson City theater
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 10/09/2013 - 11:59amA small male dog was hit by two vehicles while trying to cross Highway 395 heading west in Carson City. He wasn't wearing a collar. There was nothing the driver of the SUV could have done.
The big delivery truck was beside in the outside lane and it was just too many wheels for the little guy. I stopped in the road with my emergency lights and picked him up and carried to the roadside. I then called Carson City Animal Services to come.
Please keep your critters safe and adopt a critter if you can so they aren't out there alone against 1000's of us and our killing machines.

Republicans double down on debt ceiling
Submitted by Kirk Caraway on Sun, 07/10/2011 - 3:58pmIt's been a couple of weeks since I wrote about our local GOP candidate for Congress Mark Amodei and his politically opportunistic attempt to shed his moderate past and prove he's just as crazy as the other Tea Party people by declaring he would vote against raising the debt ceiling.
Why would conservatives support Ryan budget bill?
Submitted by Kirk Caraway on Mon, 06/27/2011 - 9:30amThe GOP budget bill that garnered nearly every Republican vote in Congress has been much discussed these past few weeks, as has the author of this bill, the party’s economic “genius” Rep. Paul Ryan.
The part of the bill that privatizes Medicare, dubbed “VoucherCare” by some, has taken up most of the discussion. But when I look at the other parts of the bill, I’m amazed that conservatives are lining up to support this nutty plan.
