Man faces additional charges in alleged fake check cashing scam

A Carson City man faces seven felony counts of commercial burglary and seven counts of uttering a forged instrument after being arrested for allegedly attempting to cash counterfeit checks at a casino on the account of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California.

A Carson City man faces felony fraud charges after he was arrested for allegedly attempting to cash counterfeit checks at a casino on Wednesday.

Donald Paul Jackson Jr., 27, is being held in Carson City Jail on $27,500 bail. According the arrest report, officers were called to a casino in the 3800 block of Highway 50 East in reference to a suspicious subject attempting to cash counterfeit checks.

Pair wanted for check fraud sought by Douglas County authorities

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects who cashed fraudulent checks at the Carson Valley Inn last month.

The pair entered the cashier's cage at the casino on Feb. 24 and cashed fraudulent checks for an undisclosed amount of money. The incident was reported to the sheriff's office on March 11, according to Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Jim Halsey.

The suspects are believed to be part of a group of suspects who have recently cashed counterfeit paychecks at several Northern Nevada area casino, he said.

State worker launches budget deficit plan, issues challenge to economists

Carl Kuhl, a state Parole and Probation employee of six years, has created a plan that he claims will eliminate Nevada's budget deficit within two years.

In a news release issued on Tuesday, Kuhl said his plan not only will reduce the budget deficit but also help repair Nevada's economy at the same time. It is a pretty big claim, he admits, coming from an Accounting Assistant I, an entry level position.

The Northern Nevada Cyber Center, located at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has issued a computer intrusion scam warning. Many Facebook users are reporting their accounts being hacked.
