Mark Your Calendars for the Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors Summer Charity Golf Tournament

The Sierra Nevada Association of REALTORS® will be hosting the Alyce McCracken Scramble for Scholarships on Friday, June 21 at the Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City.

This annual golf tournament is played in honor of REALTOR® Alyce McCracken, a resident of Northern Nevada who had a passion for continuing education and training. Proceeds from the tournament benefit local high schools in the communities served by the Sierra Nevada Association of REALTORS® including the counties of Carson, Douglas, Churchill, and parts of Lyon.

Chamber Leadership Class Thanks Donors for Senior Center Project

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class of 2012 would like to thank several contributors for their recent donations to the Carson City Senior Center Media Room. With their help our Media Room Project turned out fantastic and has brought much joy to the Senior Citizens of Carson City! Without their generous donations this could not have been achieved. Carson City Chamber Leadership Institute Class of 2012 graduates

One of the finest classes of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute graduated Thursday. Though a small class, they were mighty and bonded well. Over the course of 2012, they shared many wonderful experiences meeting community leaders and learning about our unique community. Following the graduation ceremony, the official dedication and ribbon cutting of the Carson City Senior Center Leisure Hour Room was held. Mayor Robert Crowell and Senior Center Director Janice McIntosh cut the ribbon as the new graduates looked on.

Shade Tree Council Hosts Tree Care Seminar

For the 20th consecutive year, the Carson City Shade Tree Council will host its annual Fall Tree Care Seminar on November 2, 2011. The Seminar will be held in the Sierra Room at the Community Center from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is open to all tree care professionals and tree lovers in the community. The Community Center is located at 851 East William Street in Carson City.

Shade Tree Council Will Hold Annual Fall Tree Care Seminar

For the 19th consecutive year, the Carson City Shade Tree Council will host its annual Fall Tree Care Seminar on November 3, 2010. The Seminar will be held in the Sierra Room at the Community Center from 8:30 am until 4 pm and is open to all tree care professionals and tree lovers in the community. The Community Center is located at 851 East William Street in Carson City.

The Seminar will be broadcast on Carson City’s public access television stations.

Sheriff Furlong responds to opponent's comment about gang problem

A comment posted by sheriff candidate Bob Guimont has drawn a lengthy and detailed response by the person he is hoping to replace.

Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong sent Carson Now his response to Guimont's comment that was posted after a gang-related shooting incident two weeks ago. Carson Now contacted Guimont and verified that the comment did in fact come from him.

Local students win scholarships from Greater Nevada Credit Union

Sixteen Northern Nevada high school graduates were recently awarded $1000 scholarships from Greater Nevada Credit Union. Over 100 students applied for the program which the Credit Union has offered to local students for the past decade.

“We are always proud to help some of the region’s finest students with financial support for their continuing education,” said Wally Murray, President/CEO for Greater Nevada Credit Union.
