As a rule, we think most government documents shouldn’t be rendered in languages other than English. It’s expensive and difficult to do, and in most cases the social value is not great when there are public employees or friends and relatives to help folks with limited English skills.

One of the most notable celebrations is that in Times Square in Manhattan. This has been an annual event in New York since 1907.
Nearly every television station will broadcast the “ball drop” in Times Square: A large, lighted crystal ball sliding down a 77-foot pole over the course of the last minute of the year. When the ball reaches the bottom, it is the New Year.

As home and commercial burglaries fall sharply in Carson City, residents urged to remain vigilant
Submitted by editor on Thu, 11/02/2017 - 10:26amCarson City is seeing some of the lowest crimes rates we have experienced in years to include a 30 percent reduction in residential burglaries and 29 percent reduction in commercial burglaries just this year alone.
While we are working hard on solving the thefts and burglaries that have already occurred, we are always looking to improve on how to prevent them from occurring to begin with.
