Two books written by Nevada authors selected for Library of Congress's 'Great Reads from Great Places'

Nevada Center for the Book (a Library of Congress Affiliate) is a program of Nevada Humanities dedicated to promoting literature and literacy throughout the Silver State. Two books by Nevada authors have been selected to represent Nevada at the National Book Festival–Nudi Gill by Bonnie Kelso and Chasing Giants by Zeb Hogan and Stefan Lovgren.

Dayton, Nevada – Dayton author Lisa Laterza Selmi will lead storytime at the Silver City Volunteer Library on Tuesday, July 20, reading from her new children’s book. Storytime begins at 10am. Selmi’s fun and educational new children’s book Oscar's Big Adventure is an endearing story of an aging dog who reminds us that we are never too old to seek new friendships and adventures.

Alum Presents Refugee information
CHS alum, Kaitlin Brush (class of 2004), presented to social studies classes this past month. Her informational presentation focused on the definition of refugees, migrants, and internally displaced persons, and the current refugee crisis in the Middle East and Europe and how different European countries are working to address the growing number of refugees.

In her book Mary Randall asks the reader to believe in magic and have a zest for adventure as they trek along with Bobby and his pals through the Magic Kingdom of the woods. The reader will encounter talking animals, twists, turns, and secrets along with Indian spirits and ghosts of the Civil War. Randall hopes that readers will enjoy this amazing journey of surprises, mysteries and fun.

Harvest Book Sale

The Friends of the Carson City Library will have their Harvest Book Sale at the Library Thursday, Sept. 21 from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 am to 4pm. Book Drive to benefit families and children of Silver Springs, Nevada

EyeC Books is sponsoring a book drive to benefit Silver Springs families and children. This event has two purposes. The first purpose is to distribute books to families and children. The second purpose is to collect books to continue this effort.
