Carson High School Students

Eric Abowd and Steve Rose, partners and Carson City lead financial advisors at locally-based Abowd & Rose Financial Group, recently announced they will once again offer a $3,500 college scholarship in May 2013 to a local high school student.

A dozen Carson High School Students recently learned the importance of building and maintaining good credit. The goal was to provide knowledge that would make them more savvy borrowers.

Four 90-minute classes held January 26 and 27 were taught by Jesse Hartford, Consumer Loan Specialist, and Jackie Tilton, Consumer Loan Processer, both from Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU). Topics included interest rates and accruals and different types of loans.

A contest for the TV show.. 'This Week in Nevada Sports', A.K.A TWiNS. Who can create the best logo for the show? The winner will get 100 bucks. It must contain the state of Nevada, and the initials of the show, (must have the initials of TWiNS just like that)... the compitition ends one week from tomorrow, which is next Friday. Carson High School students and faculty were treated to an aviation display when the Nevada Army National Guard flew in its CH47 Chinook helicopter for a few hours this afternoon.

The Carson City stopover was part of a planned community awareness day at the high school, where students could see up close the transport helicopter and ask questions among Guard staff and recruiters and inquire about opportunities.
