More of the same weather wise is headed our way as we round the corner going into Thursday, July 25, 2019. Activities around the Carson City area feature a Muscle Powered hike along a portion of the Tahoe Rim Trail, Status of Women in Northern Nevada conference at the Carson Nugget, a lecture series at the Carson City BRIC, Freedom Fest Carson City GOP Barbecue at Glen Eagles, Thursday Cruise Night at Max Casino, plus afternoon and evening presentations on the Apollo Lunar Mission at the Nevada State Museum. The countdown to the weekend begins as we head into midweek, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 with daytime highs in the low 90s and plenty of indoor and outdoor activities. Topping the list is the Northern Nevada Development Authority's Legislative Roundup at Casino Fandango. If you want to know how this year's legislative session will affect business, be there. For those who look to the stars for the big picture, there's a multi-media hands on science day presentation at the Nevada State Museum as part of the Apollo 11 moon landing celebration; then there's Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center and lots more. Heading into Tuesday, July 23, 2019 there's plenty of indoor and outdoor activities around Carson City, including a morning power walk and evening hike and bike ride, an Apollo lecture at the Nevada State Museum, high tech imaging demonstrations with NASA technology at the Carson City Library Digitorium, archery at Centennial Park, art showings and more. The heat is on heading into Monday, July 22, 2019. We're looking at another sunny day in the capital city region with daytime highs in the mid to upper 90s. If you're up for for a walk or bike ride to get the oxygen flowing, it might be best to get it done first thing in the morning. Otherwise, there's plenty of ways to stay cool. Looking ahead for the first day of the work week there's a local talk, art classes, line dancing and more.

As we begin to round out the work week heading into Thursday, July 18, 2019, we're looking at the same amount of sun with a daytime high around 90. Not bad for the middle of July. Activities lined up include a Muscle Powered hike, a cultural awareness conference at Carson Valley Inn, an artist reception at Artsy Fartsy, art classes at Rustically Divine, Thursday Cruise Night, the first "Third Thursday" farmer's market and barbecue in Dayton, a presentation on the Apollo Lunar Mission at the Carson City Library and more.

Midweek, here we come! Heading into Wednesday, July 17, 2019 and we're looking at another sunshine-filled day full of activities including Trails 4 Tails at Riverview Park, an open house at Carson City's Foreman-Roberts House Museum, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center with a showing of "Monster's University" to follow and more. This week the Muscle Powered Trash Mob of Carson City will ride again with the annual bull thistle pull at Horse Creek Ranch.

As we head into Tuesday, July 16, 2019 we're reminded it's halfway through the month and time sure is flying as we celebrate our summertime favorite stops around the Carson City region. Heading into Monday, July 15, 2019 the Carson City region is looking at sunny skies, breezy conditions and a slight cooling trend over the next couple days, according to the National Weather Service. In the meantime, it looks to be another fine day in the capital city. Ahead there's a youth mountain bike camp, a presentation by an AARP lobbyist, art showings and more.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space department is excited to announce our Adopt-A-Park program!

As part of our Adopt-A-Park program, we have five of our smaller parks available for adoption.

These parks will be open to families, individuals and organizations to adopt.

With a windy cool down headed our way, activities around the Carson City area Wednesday, June 26 will make for a breezy good time. Good day Carson City and welcome to the last day of spring. Today is Thursday, June 20, 2019. Instead of hot weather, Mother Nature has decided to cool things down some as we head into the weekend with highs in the low 80s today and the low 70s for the first day of summer. Events, activities and more are lined up today including the first day of the three-day police officer motorcycle challenge at Mills Park, morning walks, Cruise Night at Empire Ranch Golf Course and live music outdoors at Living the Good Life.

Ross Gold Park is one of the oldest parks within the City’s park system and is located at 280 Appion Way. As part of the efforts to reinvest in aging park infrastructure, the City released a survey in April, 2019 to get the community’s input on changes to the park’s master plan.

The Carson City Classic Cinema Club is kicking off cool summer nights with a series of outdoor movies located outside the Brewery Arts Center campus at The Change Companies' Minnesota St. Stage in Carson City.

Heading into Tuesday, June 18, 2019 we're looking at continued warming around the region with a daytime high around 91. Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. Events around town Tuesday include a Muscle Powered walk, hike and bike ride, yoga, exercises for the mind and body hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club, political gatherings, art activities and more.

It has been a busy and productive year for Carson City Chamber Chairman of the Board Bob Fredlund. He’s a full-time top selling realtor for Coldwell Banker Select in Carson City and a builder of homes at Santa Maria Ranch in Dayton. His construction company also remodels homes, right now most notably the home of Carson City founder Abe Curry.

Heading into Wednesday, June 12, 2019 means we are half way through the work week. Temperatures will be around the 90 mark with a chance of afternoon showers. Activities lined up include art classes, a hike designed for tots through Carson City Parks and Recreation, a Ninja aerobic class at Yaple's Ballroom and you can hear local author CW Bayer talk about three of his books on area history at Browsers Corner Book Store. The Fourth Annual Carson City Off-Road is dedicated to Carson City native and visionary trails community leader, Joel Dunn. Born and raised in Carson City, Dunn has not only witnessed the evolution of Nevada's state capital but has also been a driving force in its transition into a recreation-focused community.

June 17th kicks off Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space’s first annual Pollinator Week! Come out and celebrate pollinators and what they do for the environment at one or all of the many interpretive programs for the week.

With the weather reaching the mid-80s, now is the perfect time to get out and explore during a jam-packed three days around the Carson City region. Friday has plenty of events to get you to the weekend.

Carson City University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, in partnership with Carson City Parks and Recreation and Friends of Silver Saddle Ranch, is offering two weekly sessions at Silver Saddle Ranch, 2648 Carson City Road in Carson City, for youth who are not able to keep or raise a small farm animal to experience working with either rabbits or goats. Area 4-H leaders will bring their animals for attendees, 9 – 14 years of age, to work with in these hands on day camps.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space in partnership with the Carson City Weed Coalition would like to invite the public to join us on June 8th, 2019 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. to pull a variety of invasive plants, including: musk thistle, poison hemlock and bull thistle.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space will offer two bicycle programs this summer, one designed for children and the other for adults and teens.
