Valedictorian of the 2018 graduating class at Argent Preparatory Academy, Rasmussen studied art at Western Nevada College through their early college entry program and completed her Associate of Arts degree at 18.

City staff then filled it with holiday goodies while the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada donated their creativity to make a banner and snowflakes! At today's Board of Supervisors meeting, Karen's last of 2018, the community, in unison, thanked and acknowledged her tireless efforts in creating a better cultural landscape for Carson City.

Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

Her latest artwork will be showcased in an exhibition on the 4th Floor Gallery of nearby St. Mary’s Art Center, 55 North R Street, Virginia City, from Oct. 14 through Oct. 21. The public is invited to the catered opening reception on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Hand Made Paper (Ages 16-adult)

Students will learn the process of preparing a vat of cotton pulp, pulling a sheet of paper with a mould and deckle, ‘couching' and pressing the paper. All materials are included in tuition. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Wednesday, October 9, from 5 - 7pm. The BRIC is located at 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.
