The flowing robes, the grace: Tibetan monks to visit Carson City, construct sand mandala

During their Carson City visit, from Jan. 15-20, the monks will construct a Manjushri, also known as Buddha of Wisdom Sand Mandala.

The Monks of the Gaden Shartse Monastery will teach a Tibetan Calligraphy and Butter Sculpture Workshop and hold a Vajravidarin Healing Ritual in the Brewery Arts Center today. Sonia Carlson to speak, demonstrate calligraphy at Legislative Building March 19
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 03/11/2015 - 5:12pmGardnerville artist Sonia Carlson hosts a free Chinese Calligraphy workshop at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19 as part of the Nevada Arts Council’s “Work of Artists” series at the Nevada Legislative Building in Carson City.
The event runs until 5 p.m. in Room 3100. All “Work of Artists” presentations are free and open to the public.
Growing up in Zhangzhou, China, Carlson learned calligraphy in school and folk dances from her family.

Designed to create an opportunity for artists to engage with community members and people working in or visiting the Nevada State Legislative Building, the presentations are at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 18 and 24, March 19 and 30, April 17 and May 7. All are free and open to the public in Room 3100.
Carson City's Betsy Kosier to appear Friday as 'Wheel of Fortune' contestant

Kosier, who owns a mediation practice in Carson City called Interaction Alliance, is married with one child and is a huge fan of “Wheel,” having told game show officials that she's watched it for 30 years. She says she loves tuning in each night with her husband while they eat dinner.
