Western Nevada College has announced their newest fitness class, R.I.P.P.E.D.

R.I.P.P.E.D. is designed to help everybody meet their ultimate fitness goals in a super fun group exercise environment.

This 1 hour class combines Resistance, Interval, Power, Plyometrics, Endurance, core and offers a very important Diet program on the Rippedplanet website.

Heading into last day of 2019, we're looking at partly sunny skies with a high around 50 and low around 30. Activities around the capital city region are lined up through the day and evening. Enjoy and celebrate as we prepare to toast a welcome to 2020. Also do consider a designated driver, cab ride, Lyft or Uber to be on the safe side for your ride home if out celebrating. As we head into the final Monday of 2019, we're looking at a slight chance of light snow in the morning as a weak weather system brushes the region. The Carson City Historical Society Board held an emergency meeting on Dec. 21 to discuss the eminent demolition of Adele’s, and strategized on how this historic building could be preserved.

The board voted to pursue a fund raising campaign to work with the community to preserve the 155 year-old Adele’s building at 1112 North Carson Street, Carson City, Nev.

Who could forget the incredible sounds and imagery of Cab Calloway and his hot Jazz Orchestra!

Jack C. Davis Observatory at Western Nevada College is ending 2019 with something new. Observatory Director Thomas Herring will moderate the first “Astronomy Roundtable” on Saturday, Dec 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Nevada Raider Nation - Carson City Chapter will host an Oakland Raiders vs Los Angeles Chargers game watch at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 at Jimmy G's, 301 N. Carson St. in Carson City.

The game watch will feature drawings for fantastic Raiders gear; a silent auction on even greater Raiders items, like an autographed Willie Brown photo, highball and shot glasses with the Raiders logo, T-shirts, games, Howie Long photo, and a whole lot more!

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Mark Amodei, NV-02, released the following statement Tuesday after voting in favor of two legislative packages that include all 12 Fiscal Year 2020 appropriations bills.

More than 150 seniors in Carson City received a visit from Santa Claus and his helpers on Saturday through Friends to All, a Nevada nonprofit whose goal is "touching hearts with a visit."

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. The Polar Express Train Rides are sold out for the rest of the year, but Santa Train express rides are steaming up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum over the weekend. Read on for details.

With activities lining up around the capital city through the weekend, Thursday events around the region include a meeting of the Healthy Communities Coalition in Silver Springs, an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered, and a Carson City CASA volunteer information hour and training seminar. Along the music front, CHS Band will host its winter concert at the Carson City Community Center and our own local country music star and Nashville recording artist Art Mulcahy will be at Jimmy G's. Five years ago, Chef Don Pepe launched a holiday fundraiser to help Pets of the Homeless, a Carson City-based 501(c)3 non-profit that raises money to provide food, veterinary care and other essentials to the pets of homeless persons.
