UPDATE: There's a star party late Monday night into Tuesday morning hosted by Carson City Parks and Recreation and Open Space. For summer’s most visible meteor showers, join the Carson City Parks, Rec and Open Space Department at Western Nevada College’s Jack C. Davis Observatory for some late night, educational fun. No pre-registration necessary. Please wear close-toed shoes and bring water for night hiking from the Observatory. Head lamps and flashlights are allowed. Heading into Monday, July 29, 2019 and we're wondering how the month went by so quickly. Again we're looking at a fairly typical end of July day weather wise, with sunny skies and a high around 94. On tap around Carson City are athletic, art and speaking events, a life guard camp, a computer coding camp, line dancing lessons and more. Enjoy.

The countdown to the weekend begins as we head into midweek, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 with daytime highs in the low 90s and plenty of indoor and outdoor activities. The heat is on heading into Monday, July 22, 2019. We're looking at another sunny day in the capital city region with daytime highs in the mid to upper 90s. If you're up for for a walk or bike ride to get the oxygen flowing, it might be best to get it done first thing in the morning. Otherwise, there's plenty of ways to stay cool. Looking ahead for the first day of the work week there's a local talk, art classes, line dancing and more.

As we begin to round out the work week heading into Thursday, July 18, 2019, we're looking at the same amount of sun with a daytime high around 90. Not bad for the middle of July. Heading into Wednesday, July 17, 2019 and we're looking at another sunshine-filled day full of activities including Trails 4 Tails at Riverview Park, an open house at Carson City's Foreman-Roberts House Museum, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center with a showing of "Monster's University" to follow and more. As we head into Tuesday, July 16, 2019 we're reminded it's halfway through the month and time sure is flying as we celebrate our summertime favorite stops around the Carson City region. Heading into Monday, July 15, 2019 the Carson City region is looking at sunny skies, breezy conditions and a slight cooling trend over the next couple days, according to the National Weather Service. We're looking at plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures and an extraordinary musical lineup today at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City for the 11th annual Concert Under the Stars benefit for The Greenhouse Project. Heading into Monday, July 8, 2019 we want to give a big shout out to all the local organizations and agencies that made this Fourth of July weekend around the Carson City region one to remember. For Monday we're looking at a number of events including a basketball camp at the MAC, a children's theater camp, a local talk with the Carson City Airport manager, art activities, line dancing and more.

As we go forward and move ahead into Tuesday, July 2, 2019 we're looking at another sunny day, all the better as we prepare to celebrate Independence Day. Are you ready for July 4 fireworks at Mills Park? As a Tuesday warmup, get the heart pumping during Muscle Powered's three fitness outings. Plus there's art showings, hands-on science activities in Silver City, an evening archery shoot, a viewing of the 1953 film "From Here to Eternity" at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club and more. Heading into Monday, the first day of July 2019 we leave an action-packed weekend behind us with a long Independence Day holiday week ahead. The activities continue, albeit at a slower place for the first day of the work week. The business branch of the Carson City Library, currently housed at the Business Resource Innovation Center (the “BRIC”), will be relocating back to the main branch in January 2015. The BRIC Carson City library resources will close on Jan. 9 at 5 p.m. and are scheduled to reopen in the main library Jan. 26.

“With the new technology assets at the main branch, it makes sense to bring the BRIC resources back to the main branch,” said Sena Loyd, Carson City Library director.

A NxLevel for Entrepreneurs business planning course begins next month in Carson City and ends in April, officials announced Monday.

Michael Salogga, Carson City business development manager and the instructor, and Kathy Carrico, Nevada SBDC training director, made the announcement and said the program provides people who want to start or grow a business the tools to proceed. The SBDC designation from America’s SBDC Nevada office in Reno stands for Small Business Development Centers.

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, BRIC Art 5, with artwork by eight area artists at the City’s Business Resource Innovation Center [BRIC]. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Friday, October 17, from 5 - 7pm. The BRIC is located at 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. The exhibition and reception are free and the public is cordially invited. The exhibition will remain at the BRIC through September 4, 2015. The BRIC is open to the public Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Carson City, Nevada – The local PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) chapter is again sponsoring Candidates Night this Thursday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at The BRIC (Business Resource Innovation Center), 108 East Proctor Street, Carson City. The public is invited to attend.

All candidates on the 2014 Carson City ballot — local, regional and state offices — were invited, and a high percentage of them plan to attend.

Carson City Library and Nevada Humanities Scholar Patricia Cooper-Smith will host a book discussion on the 2014 Nevada Reads selected book by Sarah E. Olds (1875-1963), titled “Twenty Miles From A Match: Homesteading in Western Nevada”, on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. at the BRIC (Business Resource Innovation Center) located at 108 E Proctor Street in downtown Carson City.

Parents and children turned the Carson City Library into a mini golf course Friday as part of the month-long Discover Tech program. The event featured engineering concepts as participants built ramps, tunnels and obstacles to create the course.

Building on the Carson City library’s month-long focus on engineering, on May 14 at 6:30 p.m. Library Director Sena Loyd will facilitate a panel discussion among five local professional engineers, four women and a gentleman about the ways females of all ages can succeed and advance in the field of engineering and be recognized for life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders.

The talk will be hosted from the Carson City Library’s business branch, the Business Resource Innovation Center (the BRIC) located at 108 E. Proctor St.

From the Carson City Library on April 14 at 6 p.m. a group of six engineers are slated to cut the grand opening ribbon on a traveling exhibit supported by the National Science Foundation, titled Discover Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference.

Nevada State Engineer Mr. Jason King, P.E. as well as five previous Nevada State Engineers who served in the top post starting from 1967 through 2010 will join King to celebrate arrival of the engineering-focused interactive exhibit.

The Carson City Historical Society will present its first "Third Thursday" lecture of 2014 with "The Virginia and Truckee Railway at mid-century and beyond: A personal glimpse," by Steve VanDenburgh.

The March 20, 6 p.m. presentation is at the Business Resource Innovation Center, also known as BRIC, which is a partnership of Carson City Library, Office of Business Development, Building, Engineering, Planning and Business Licensing, located at 108 E. Proctor Street.

Nevada Legal Services will provide a free legal self-help clinic on Thursday, February 27th at the BRIC, the Business Resource Innovation Center, located downtown at 108 East Proctor in Carson City.

The Self-Help Forms Completion Clinic will begin at 1:30 p.m. This workshop will provide general instructions and assistance regarding the completion of self-help forms for those who are self-represented litigants. A Notary Public will also be available.
