Heading into Saturday, May 18, 2019 we say welcome to the weekend Carson City. Activities abound throughout the region. Bring an umbrella as the forecast calls for some showers. But above all, enjoy the events and activities lined up in Carson City, Carson Valley, Mound House, Silver City, Virginia City and Dayton areas.

Join Carson Animal Service Initiative this Saturday in Carson City for an evening of music, wine, appetizers, and auctions, both silent and live, all to help animals in need.

You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm telling you why: Because Santa Claus is coming to Carson City!

In what has become a holiday tradition, critters and children of all ages are invited to join CASI at Benson's Feed in Carson City for Pictures with Santa.

CASI would like to invite everyone to the year's best pooch pool party! Please join us on Sept. 22 for our annual Pooch Plunge to help support Critter Fixer, CASI's low cost spay/neuter voucher program.

9-10am is for little dogs and our three legged friends who need a calmer crowd. 10am-3pm the pool is open to all sizes of furry friends. Ramps, tennis balls, frisbees and towels will be ready!

Carson Animal Services Initiative, also known as CASI, will host its annual Woofs, Wine and Whiskers on June 22 at the Governor's Mansion. Even though the Carson City shelter has been built, CASI is still working hard to assist animals in need through programs such as Critter Fixer, our low cost spay and neuter voucher program.

Please join CASI for a purr-fect evening of wine tasting and appetizers in the beautiful Governor's Mansion on Saturday August 19th from 5 to 7:30 PM.

The event will be catered by the Casino Fandango who has prepared wonderful appetizers to pair with the wines to be tasted.

On May 28, CASI celebrated the spirit of community by hosting a Roundtable Discussion with area rescue nonprofits and veterinarians. We listened, shared, asked, answered, and focused on meeting our important objectives while helping each other in the process. The wonderful collaboration that our common objective brings...finding loving homes for all of our furry friends...made for worthwhile, and sometimes challenging, conversation.

What can kids do with spare change? Lots of things! Nancy Cole's 5th graders decided that their change will go to help shelter animals.

Sunday is going to be a big day at our Carson City Senior Center! Carson Animal Services Initiative is hosting our monthly CASI Bingo, but this month there is a guaranteed BIG payday! Buy-in is $10 with additional packs for $5. CASI ball and other special games are $1 each. If the CASI cash ball isn't won during regular play, CASI will hold a special game with a payout of $1000!

Here's to compassion and coming together to make a positive difference! Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI) will be donating $200,000 to Carson City at the Jan. 21 Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting to help with the building cost of the new animal shelter.

CASI will continue its mission of fundraising to provide needed assistance for programs that reduce animal suffering, homelessness and pet overpopulation.

Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI) would like to thank the staff at Benson's Feed and Pet Food for helping us host another great Pictures with Santa on December 5. Our furry friends came out in droves to tell Santa all about their year in hopes of a special treat, which Jim Benson promptly supplied! Please join CASI for two great dog friendly events this weekend. On Saturday, we are hosting the Pooch Plunge at the outdoor pool, 841 North Roop Street, from 9-3. If your dog likes to swim, this is the event! There will be a ramp, tennis balls, towels, and dog treats. Cost is $10 for the first dog, and $5 for additional dogs.

Due to the high coyote activity around Riverview Park, the CASI 5K9 scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19 has been canceled.

Join CASI for a fun day of Bingo where you can meet new friends, share some laughs and win raffle prizes and money. The CASI ball payout is now over $600.

Doors open and 11:30 and games start at 12:30. Buy in is $10 and extra packs are $5, all special games are $1. There is a snack bar available if you are hungry and the coffee is always free. CASI is a 501c3 non profit raising money to help build a new animal shelter.
