Plenty of free things to see, hear, and experience await. The annual Spring Earth Spirit Faire lets you celebrate Mother Earth with workshops, holistic practitioners, great vendors, and a raffle. It benefits the Heart to Heart School and Advocates to End Domestic Violence so it’s always worth checking out. You’ll have to keep reading for all of your choices, the spring thaw brings out the best this valley has to offer.

Friday, April 28: Things to do in Carson City

If you can make it through today you’ll be rewarded with warming temperatures, with Sunday starting a nice little run in the 70s. Celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting at Mills Park, and if you’re one of the first fifty arrivals you’ll get your own sapling to plant. Afterwards, take a stroll with the Carson City Historical Society and learn about the history of our big downtown trees. Tonight, Carson Comedy takes over the Carson Nugget and the Brewery Arts Center as Dan Gabriel and Chris Franjola bring the laughs.

A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Rummage and book sales, live music, a fun run and a half-marathon, comedy and so much more await you. Check out the list for all the ways to embrace the sunshine.

Based on the Broadway favorite and well-known comic strip, “Annie, Jr.” recounts the adventures of a spunky Depression era orphan (Annie) determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage, run by the sinister Miss Hannifin.
It's Your City: Panel discusses aging in Nevada

Nevada is one of the fastest aging states in the country. Data regarding the aging of Nevada and current statewide initiatives to address aging and dementia were discussed.

World Dance Open Floor at Comma Coffee is like an open mic for dancers. Travel the world with the annual International Film Weekend at the Community Center; it's free and also features local Independent films. Karaoke, live music, dancing and more round out tonight's options.

The Brewery Arts Center is bringing together some of Northern Nevada’s top comedians and storytellers to recount their worst and most excruciating dating stories on Saturday, February 18 at 8 pm (doors at 7:30) at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, located at 511 W. King St. Carson City, NV 89703.

There's live music with Brother Dan at Living the Good Life, comedienne Kat Simmons at the Carson Nugget, or the documentary on Bill Cunningham at the Nevada State Museum that may be enough to tempt you out. Please be careful, drive safely, and keep an umbrella handy. Keep your fingers crossed this storm passes quickly – a full moon and lunar eclipse at sunset are visible to those without cloudy skies.

Head down to Carson Lanes for their Bowling ‘Golf’ Tournament and see how well you can maneuver 18 lanes with varying oil patterns. Classic movie lovers are in for a treat as Galaxy Theater offers two viewings of the 1952 favorite, ‘Singing in the Rain.’ Grab some friends or your special someone for ‘Bostyx’ featuring David Victor formerly of Boston. You’ll find this great concert in the Performance Hall at the Brewery Arts Center.
