Carson City's Derrick Johnson wins Northern Nevada Masters Youth bowling tournament

The tournament was held at Carson Lanes and was sponsored by the Carson Country U.S. Bowling Congress Association.

A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Rummage and book sales, live music, a fun run and a half-marathon, comedy and so much more await you. Check out the list for all the ways to embrace the sunshine.

If you find yourself to the east of Carson, head by the Holiday Craft Fair in Dayton. Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint makes a good choice for dinner tonight; they’re hosting an all styles jam with Xing Bridges. Good luck to the athletes competing in today’s Special Olympics Bowling Tournament in Reno.

Hit the slopes if you are so inclined, several Tahoe resorts have opened for the season. Runners should head out to Washoe Lake State Park for the first of the Be Bold, Run in the Cold series sponsored by Ascent Runs. If you prefer something warmer, head to Crossroads Lounge for their Grand Re-opening. It’s under new ownership and is sure to have something to keep you toasty.

It’s their opening weekend and they are offering free car washes and raising funds for the Carson City Community Counseling Center.
If you consider yourself adventurous, then the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry in Virginia City is for you. It’s not nicknamed the Testicle Festival for nothing! If you need some liquid courage, take part in the Ball Breaker Saloon Crawl. The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade heads down C Street at noon.

String Cheese Incident to jam Reno, Las Vegas in 2015 Winter Carnival Tour

String Cheese Incident will play the Grand Sierra Theater Jan. 23-24 as part of its 2015 Winter Carnival Tour.
