Applications sought for person to serve on Carson City Airport Authority

The Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Carson City Airport Authority. The Airport Authority is a 7 member board that oversees all matters pertaining to the Carson City airport.

Board of Supervisors meeting to discuss purchasing $90,000 worth of wireless microphones

The upcoming Board of Supervisor’s meeting will be held Sept. 5, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, and they’ll be discussing potential purchases and contracts, appointments to the Historic Resources Commission, requests from the Carson City Airport Authority and Public Works, community planning, and more.

Carson City supervisors accept 90 percent design phase of South Carson roundabout

The Carson City Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed Thursday to accept the 90 percent design phase of the South Carson Street roundabout project following a presentation led by the city's chief engineer and comments from the public.

On Wednesday evening, the project was presented to the Carson City Regional Transportation Commission by chief engineer Dan Stucky. To date there have been 18 public meetings on this project.

Carson City's Centennial archery facility to be named for internationally-renowned bow maker

During Thursday’s Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting, a resolution was passed to rename the archery range at Centennial Park the “Tim Meigs Carson City Archery Range.”

Representatives of Carson City’s Clear Creek Bowmen archery club, along with the Parks and Recreation department, brought the resolution to the Board in an effort to honor Tim Meigs, a long-time Carson City citizen who was entered into the Archery Hall of Fame, and who has based his archery business out of the capital city for over sixty years.

Wreath ceremony for fallen Carson City law officers among events Thursday around town

Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will convene for their next meeting on Thursday, Aug. 15 in the Sierra Room at the Carson City Community Center beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Carson City hotel, motel tax discount ends after district attorney opinion

For over a decade, Carson City hotels and motels were able to claim a two percent discount for paying their taxes early each month. However, after an opinion issued by the District Attorney’s Office stating that the discount was never approved by the Board of Supervisors, the discount will no longer be applicable.

Carson and Stewart Street Roundabout in final, 90 percent design phase

The hotly debated proposed Stewart Street and Carson Street roundabout is in its final design phase according to Carson City via its website Carson Proud, and was presented to the the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee, which helped fund the project, during a meeting held Monday.

"This is a major milestone for the project team and one more step toward the start of the construction stage scheduled to begin (by) the end of the year," said the website.

New 'Business Retention and Expansion' program under review between Carson City Library, NNDA, and Adams Hub

A Joint Operating Agreement is currently under review between the Carson City Library, the Northern Nevada Development Authority, and Adams Hub, to create and manage a “Business Retention and Expansion” program.

At the Board of Supervisor’s meeting on Aug. 1, a presentation was held to discuss a possible joint contract between the three entities, for the creation of a Business Retention and Expansion program, which would be funded by the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation.

One hundred years ago, women in America secured the right to vote in what is potentially the largest victory of women in our country to date.

What's on the outside doesn't always reflect on what's going on inside. Perceptions are just that sometimes. There's usually a lot more going than meets the eye.

And that is the case with Cafe at Adele's following the March 28 fire that swept through but was mostly contained to the laundry room area of the iconic Carson City restaurant that sits on the corner of North Carson and John Street.
