This year's dinner will feature pitcher Kevin Jepsen of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Jepsen, a Bishop Manogue High School graduate, is a right-handed reliever and a member of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Carson's season came to an end on Saturday at Bishop Manogue in the Northern 4A playoffs as the Senators were eliminated by Damonte Ranch 11-1 in five innings. But Carson's third place finish at zone should serve as a springboard for his young team, Vickrey said, which is losing just three seniors in Daria Leid, Megan Hein and Natalie Morrow.

CHS officially clinched a berth in the postseason with a 10-2 win over South Tahoe in the opener of a doubleheader on Friday and went on to win the second game as well, 5-0. Carson knew it would have third-place in the Sierra League locked up with a win in the opener after losses by Bishop Manogue and Fallon on Thursday.
