Carson's season came to an end on Saturday at Bishop Manogue in the Northern 4A playoffs as the Senators were eliminated by Damonte Ranch 11-1 in five innings. But Carson's third place finish at zone should serve as a springboard for his young team, Vickrey said, which is losing just three seniors in Daria Leid, Megan Hein and Natalie Morrow.

RENO -- A long time has passed since the Carson High softball program reigned as a state champion in 1994 and won four successive zone tournament championships between 1995 and '98. When all was said and done, however, an all-around performance by "Team" Carson was the difference in an 8-5 victory against Reed at the Northern 4A Regional Softball Tournament at Bishop Manogue High School.

MINDEN -- They took different routes on Wednesday, but at the end of the day, the stage was set for a showdown between the Galena Grizzlies and Reno Huskies at the Northern 4A Regional Baseball Tournament.

Carson High is riding a wave of momentum into the NIAA 4A Northern 4A Region Softball Championship tournament, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday and continue through Saturday at Bishop Manogue High School in Reno.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE -- The Carson High softball team likes the position it's in heading into the Northern 4A playoffs.

CHS officially clinched a berth in the postseason with a 10-2 win over South Tahoe in the opener of a doubleheader on Friday and went on to win the second game as well, 5-0. Carson knew it would have third-place in the Sierra League locked up with a win in the opener after losses by Bishop Manogue and Fallon on Thursday.

The Carson High J.V. baseball team ran into a hot-hitting Bishop Manogue squad on Saturday, losing both ends of a Sierra League doubleheader at home, 16-4 and 15-4.

RENO -- Even on a day when weather conditions were so unpredictable, it was difficult to find an explanation for the offensive performance of the Carson High softball team on Thursday afternoon.

RENO -- Two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning was the difference as the Bishop Manogue J.V. baseball team rallied to beat Carson 2-1 on Thursday afternoon.

Luke Maher and Danny Okimura collected two hits each to help the Carson High J.V. baseball team to a 4-2 victory against Reed at the Bishop Manogue Easter Tournament on Wednesday in Reno.

A strong run through the second and third quarters helped the Carson High freshman boys basketball team vault to a 53-22 victory at home against Bishop Manogue on Tuesday afternoon.

Playing away from home proved to be no obstacle over the weekend as the Carson High freshman boys basketball team posted two victories, winning 50-29 at Damonte Ranch on Friday and 56-32 at Bishop
