Lake Tahoe planning agency announces Best in Basin Award winners

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency this week announced and recognized award recipients for its 25th annual Best in the Basin program. The agency created the recognition program to showcase projects that demonstrate exceptional planning, design, and compatibility with Lake Tahoe’s environment and communities.

Fundraiser for Deputy Carl Howell Family set for Oct. 4 at 5 Clover Ranch in Carson Valley

A fundraiser will be held for the family of fallen Carson City Sheriff’s Office Deputy Carl Howell on Sunday, Oct. 4 at the 5 Clover Ranch.

The all-day fundraiser will feature special guest Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt. 100 percent of the profit proceeds from the benefit will be presented to the Howell family.

Bikes for Badges motorcycle run confirmed for Oct. 10 in Carson City

While the event honors Deputy Carl Howell and benefits the Howell family survivors, this run also recognizes all the Northern Nevada support that law enforcement agencies receive every day, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Thursday forum to cover recreational trails around Carson City

The Nevada Day Inc Committee is proud to announce all of the winners from the first BattleBorn 1864 Brews Bikes, and Bubbly event held on June 26-27. Ceremony opens Carson City Motor Officer Training Challenge, downtown festival

Motorcycle patrol riders from Nevada and California were welcomed by dignitaries Saturday for the opening of the 12th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge in downtown Carson City.

The event brings dozens of law enforcement officers to Carson City annually to compete in team riding and obstacle courses along Carson Street. Saturday's events will include 2 man tethered riding, 4 man team relay, slow ride, an obstacle course and last man standing.

Bikes, and cars, and brews: oh my! Downtown Carson is awash in activity on Saturday. Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly features the Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge, vendors, a brewfest, moustache competition and more. The Karson Kruzers are hosting their annual car show at Fuji Park, but will be making their way downtown after it’s over, so there will be plenty of cool cars to admire. Mojo Green takes the stage at 7 p.m. and you can head into the Carson Cigar Company to enjoy Reno’s newest Pink Floyd Tribute Band, Scarlett Moon at 9 p.m.

Downtown Carson City celebrates with Motor Patrol Challenge, Bikes and Brew street party

The inaugural Battle Born 1864 Brews, Bikes and Bubbly Nevada Day Fundraiser and 12th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge is underway now in downtown Carson City.
Among the motor patrol officers competing from around the region through courses along downtown Carson City streets, there's also classic cars, many local craft brewers and wineries, beer and wine tasting, vendors, food and contests.

Classic car enthusiasts can get a head start into this weekend's festivities with a Cruise Night tonight at Wyndham Gardens Carson Station, 5 to 8 p.m. at 900 S. Carson Street Carson City.

Classic cars, motor bikes, beer judging, tattoo and pin-up contests, food, live music and array of family-friendly activities will fill downtown Carson City and Fuji Park this weekend for three events: The Battle Born 1864 Brews, Bikes and Bubbly fundraiser, the 12th annual Carson City Sheriff's Office Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge and the 31st Run What-Cha-Brung car show.

Carson City road report: Street closures downtown Friday and Saturday for events

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of June 22-28, 2015. Beginning Friday, the Battle Born 1864 “Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly” event, coupled with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office 12th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge, will force temporary road closures.

Carson Street will be closed between Robinson Street and Musser Street from 9 a.m. on Friday, June 26, through midnight Saturday, June 27. In addition, the following streets will be closed during the same time period.

This Friday and Saturday the Carson City Sheriff’s Office will host its 12th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge. During this event Carson Street from Robinson to Musser will be closed as motor officers train with one another on a Peace Officer Standards in Training approved course.

The official opening of the new Kings Canyon/Waterfall Trailhead will be celebrated Wednesday, June 24, at 8:30 a.m. Located at the western end of Kings Street, the new facility on Carson City Open Space and U.S. Forest Service land provides multi-use road and trail access for off highway vehicles, bikes, hikers and equestrians.

The “Extreme Tow” program for Battle Born 1864 Brews, Bikes & Bubbly will be available on Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 6pm to 2am on, Sunday, June 28, 2015. The program is intended for motorist who feel they may have had too much to drink and cannot drive home safely.

Blinky Man bicycles light up the night during annual Carson City ride

Blinky Man took over streets of the city on Saturday evening. The annual costume nighttime bike ride took to the streets at 7:30 p.m. and after stopping at a number of bars and pubs throughout Carson City, concluded around midnight. Riders dressed themselves in neon colors, tutus and crazy hats. They also also adorned their bikes in lights to illuminate their nighttime ride.

The last weekend of the month welcomes Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly with the Twelve Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge to downtown. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, though.
