The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department will be hosting March's Full Moon Hike up Dead Truck Canyon on Prison Hill on Monday, March 9. This hike will feature the "Worm Moon," an abandoned 1950's truck and plenty of beautiful terrain.

My special valentine for the past twelve years is my husband Xavier. We met when we were really young he was fifteen and I was fourteen but that did not matter because we have been together ever since. His brought laughter and joy into my life. I could not imagine life without him. Like all couples we have our highs and lows, even though at times we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel we mange to meet in the middle and guide one another. We have build a beautiful life together and I can not wait to see what the future will hold for us! Maybe more babies? Or maybe more puppies?

Ten years of marriage

I was 19 he had just turned 30, we had known each other for six months and two weeks he stood at the alter in The Silver Queen Chapel in Virginia City. I walked down to my future so many things going through my head but knowing I would soon be married to my best-friend. Many people said that we would never last I was too young and we had no known each other long enough to make such a decision. We are coming up on our ten year anniversary we have two beautiful healthy children.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

On Saturday afternoon at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City, a celebration of the 150th year of the Nevada State Mint was held, with a presentation by Chautauquans Dave and Kathy Pierson, who portrayed Carson City founding father Abe Curry and his daughter, Elvira Curry Cowen.
