St. Paul's Lutheran Family, 1201 N. Saliman, Carson City, is having their rummage sale on Saturday, April 21 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This sale is a fundraiser by St. Paul's WELCA to support local charities. Highlights of the sale are a boutique jewelry room, a room of decorator items, furniture, housewares and much more.

Starting at 8 a.m. shoppers can fill a bag of select clothing for $3. At noon there will be a bag sale of anything that will fit in a bag for $3. Supporting funds are provided by Thrivent. Come early to check out the bargains!

The Salvation Army cut the ribbon and opened the doors to its new Family Store at 3320 Research Way in Carson City Thursday morning to an excited crowd eager to see the all-new, to the store and the region, merchandise for sale.

Classy Seconds Thrift Store, a revenue arm of Advocates To End Domestic Violence shelter, held its grand opening Saturday at its new Gordon Street building in Carson City.

The Carson City Girls Scouts will host a rummage sale this Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with proceeds to benefit Girls Scouts affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

For those of you not in Black Rock City, the Carson City region offers plenty of recreation and entertainment. Downtown will be hopping with the Farmers Market, monthly Wine Walk, and this season’s last outdoor concert at the Brewery Arts Center – and that’s just Saturday! A “zero tolerance" policy for prosecuting marijuana sales to youth in Carson City was announced Wednesday by District Attorney Jason Woodbury.

UPDATE: Help out a Carson City area nonprofit built on giving families a hand up and find some great bargains on fine jewelry and stones, clothing, art and more at a fundraiser this Saturday, June 14, at Thunder Canyon Country Club in Washoe Valley.

The Capital City Circles Initiatives will host "Gem of a Fundraiser" from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The Capital City Circles Initiative is a nonprofit community-based program that assists families living in poverty to achieve their goal of self-sufficiency through education, support networking and friendships with members in the community.

Bealls opened Thursday morning at Carson Mall to great fanfare with hundreds of customers arriving early to shop at Carson City's newest department store.

Bealls store manager Kessn Flitton said customers filed into the 24,000-square-foot store for the grand opening ribbon cutting, taking advantage of bargains, sales, 25 percent off coupons, shopping sprees, gift card and merchandise giveaways.

At least 300 customers went through cashier lines within the first hour of opening, said Regional Manager Lewis Rael.

North Lake Tahoe celebrates its long winter season with SnowFest, a 10-day carnival and one of the region’s most popular annual family celebrations. SnowFest is scheduled for March 1-10 and will be held at a variety of venues throughout North Lake Tahoe.

In its 32nd year, SnowFest, presented by the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/ Resort Association, is expected to draw thousands of attendees, with the majority of events free to spectators.

Alpenglow Sports has teamed up with Tahoe Cross Country to present the first-ever Lake Tahoe Nordic Festival Friday, February 8 through Sunday, February 10. North Lake Tahoe pulls out all the stops to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics with the Olympic Heritage Celebration beginning Saturday and lasting through Jan. 21 at venues throughout the region.

The event, which is sponsored by the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association, kicks off Saturday, January 12 with the REI Winter Trails Day at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Resort in Truckee.

Getting to North Lake Tahoe’s snowy ski slopes just got a whole lot easier with the launch of the region's first area-wide free ski shuttle serving North Lake Tahoe, Truckee and Donner Summit.

The service runs between area lodging properties to 9 different ski resorts on weekends and holiday weeks now through March 31. It was formed through a collaboration of the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association in partnership with the Truckee/North Tahoe Transportation Management Association and Placer County, the town of Truckee and several ski resorts.
