Caltrans crews from Districts 9 and 10 are plowing through several feet of snow in these areas. While some roads will be opening soon, many have a lot of work to be done before they can open to traffic.

A tour of our Historical west side will give you a new perspective on some of the neat old houses we have around downtown. If you get hungry, it’s hard to go wrong with all you can eat wings at Firkin and Fox; they’ve set up new patio seating on the south side while their Third Street patio gets rebuilt. Lunch or dinner at Chili’s will help the homeless pets that Nevada Humane Society serves.

A Facebook user named Johnny Pope, with photos matching those released of suspect Jonathan Pope, referred to law enforcement officers as "scumbags" in a comment on a June 5 story on Carson Now about the sheriff's department increasing enforcement efforts against speeding.

Carson City sheriff’s log: Couple ingest mushrooms, man arrested for drug paraphernalia
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 04/07/2015 - 11:06amA 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 12:29 a.m. in the 400 block of West Winnie on a misdemeanor charge, possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers were called to a residence after a female called dispatch because she ate mushrooms and was overdosing, the arrest report states. Officers made contact with the woman who stated she needed medical help.

Heavenly ski resort at Tahoe shifts to spring operations, Sierra launches lift ticket deal
Submitted by editor on Sun, 03/29/2015 - 5:44pmBeginning on Monday, March 30, Heavenly Mountain Resort at south shore Lake Tahoe will offer mountain access via the Heavenly Gondola in the Heavenly Village for the remainder of the season and Stagecoach Express through Sunday, April 5.
All mountain operations on the California side will close March 30, a week ahead of schedule. The resort will operate 11 lifts, accessing 27 trails. Mountain Operations staff continue to closely monitor and assess conditions daily. At this time the resort is still planning on closing on April 19.
