Light snow showers will continue today and and pick up tonight with less than an inch possible. As always be careful out on the roads. With steady rain in the city early this morning, slushy snow in the foothills and heavy snow in the Sierra, we are on our way to winter even though it is still technically fall. It sure is beginning to look like Christmas, especially as we head into the weekend, with Friday's Silver and SnowFlakes Festival of Lights at the capitol and Saturday's downtown Holiday Crawl.

Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 27 until Dec. 11, 2018 Home Instead Senior Care and Center for Healthy Aging have set up their trees, and placed the tags for our seniors.

These are seniors, who are in homes, and have no one to celebrate the holidays with. Our community from Carson City to Dayton and in between have been absolutely wonderful by getting a tag, and filling the wishes for our Seniors here.

We have trees set up at Dayton Smith's, Paradise Salon, Les Schwab and United Federal Credit Union (off of Topsy), and AAA.

STATELINE, Nev. — The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency 15-member Governing Board on Thursday unanimously approved the U.S. 50 South Shore Community Revitalization Project proposed by the Tahoe Transportation District.

Richard “Dick” Tatro was diagnosed with Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA,) a rare form of early onset Alzheimer’s in 2014. He passed away early Sunday morning, Oct. 21, 2018 surrounded by his wife Mona, son Charlie, twin sister Donna, and numerous family members.

CARSON CITY — Through the end of the week, the Nevada Department of Transportation will place finishing touches on replacement of a bridge on Muller Lane in the Carson Valley before reopening the roadway Friday evening.

Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program and multiple agencies from around Carson City will hold a Veterans Resource Fair on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Carson Nugget.

Veterans and their caregivers will be provided with information on services and programs provided by area non-profits, advisory groups, government agencies, and the private sector. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

RENO — Google continued its Grow with Google tour in Reno this week by announcing a sponsorship grant totalling $100,000 that was presented to JOIN Inc.

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "The Wind Calls", at the Community Development Building [the Brick], 108 E. Proctor Street in Carson City.

Nine University of Nevada, Reno students have work in the art exhibit. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Friday, Sept. 7 from 5–7 p.m. The free exhibition is available to the public through Oct. 9, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m.

After a career in air traffic control while also owning a publishing company, Ken Moen — who worked for the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority — is now managing the Carson City Airport.
