Stewart Indian School is awash in bright colors, beadwork, and dancers from all across the country during their annual Fathers’ Day Pow Wow. Congratulations to the Show Tree Brewing Company by the Carson Hot Springs; their big grand opening bash includes multiple bands. Keep reading – this weekend has a whole lot to offer.

Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Students, K-12 and University, will enjoy the free swim day at the Carson Hot Springs. The Carson Nugget is turning into quite the downtown hotspot with a different headlining comedian each Friday, in addition to live music in two places. Check out their newest offering, the Beer Bar, during tonight's grand opening. So much more awaits you today, you'll just have to see what strikes your fancy.

Several of our hiking and bike trails have been affected, the sports fields are a muddy mess, and we are still in danger of more flooding.

Enjoy the day with your families, friends, and loved ones. It’s a quiet day in town. The annual Turkey Trot Run begins at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Governor’s Mansion, costumes are always welcome. A free Thanksgiving Day meal at the Carson Nugget is offered to all. A few local taverns will open this evening for some after-feast libations.

So much crazy fun awaits: whether it’s the celebration of our ‘new’ downtown, Halloween parties for kids and adults alike, or our State Museum’s 75th Anniversary. Start your day at the Museum, hang around for the downtown ribbon cutting and festivities, then join in the costumed fun as Blinky Man hits the streets. Do the time warp at the Brewery Arts Center: the Rocky Horror Picture Show Party starts at 8:30 p.m. This is going to be one amazing weekend, so let’s get this party started.

The moisture is a welcome help to our heroic firefighters in Lake Tahoe and Washoe Valley. Because of the wet weather and the recent fires, some activities have been postponed: most notably the Advocates to End Domestic Violence’s Annual Light After Dark Run. There are still plenty of things to occupy your time, but the weather may force more cancellations.

Carson High Safe Grad new volunteer meeting

Many of our community members have worked tirelessly to make sure this event happens every year. Without your help, it may be the last party CHS has. This really is a worthy organization and I would hate to see it go away. Since its inception we have not had one death due to drunk driving on the graduation night.
