ICYM: Carson City's own Santa Claus Tom Bragg loses home to fire, family creates GoFundMe account
A Carson City man, well known for playing the role of Santa Claus for three decades at functions around the capital city including Holiday with a Hero, the Polar Express, the capital tree lighting and Saturday's breakfast at the Governor's Mansion, has come on difficult times this year, losing his home to fire.
Tom Bragg, and wife Sue, lost their home due to the arson fire Nov. 6. It was learned this week that the home would not be covered by insurance.
Family members have gathered around the couple providing support and are reaching out to the community Tom and Sue love so well asking for help in getting them back on their feet. A
GoFundMe page has been established to help raise money for Tom and Sue.
Here's what the GoFundMe page says, submitted by Tom's niece Rachelle Vazquez Abreu:
Hello, my name is Rachelle, and I am raising money to help my Uncle Tom and Auntie Sue Bragg, of Carson City, Nev.
Uncle Tom and Auntie Sue (aka Auntie noodle) were coming home from visiting family in Indiana when they received a call from the fire department that their home was on fire.
All of the hard work they put into their home, the valuables, the new kitchen, the new roof, are all gone! All that is left is the memories. All the clothes, shoes, beds, furniture, personal items, including pictures, are destroyed. Nothing was salvageable.
My Uncle has always been Santa's helper. If you have ever been at the Walmart in Carson City, you know my Unk! Always giving, and always praying for everyone. He is a retired Vietnam War Veteran. My Auntie noodle is the nicest, sweetest person you will ever meet.
They are not the type of people that would ask for help. Tom is always helping others, not only this upcoming season, but all year long. It's time for us to get together and help them out. If you can spare any extra to give, it would be greatly appreciated. If you are not in the position to give, please share this GoFundMe and keep them in your prayers.
We thank you for your prayers and support! God Bless!
