Carson City weekend arrests: Man booked for illegally occupying home of dead person
A 44-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of unlawful occupancy of real property and violation of a suspended sentence, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report. The man was occupying the home of a deceased person without permission.
According to the report, officers were notified that a man was seen entering the property. Deputies arrived and made entry into the home after knocking several times. A realtor, who is responsible for the property, provided deputies to the combination of a lock box that had a key to get into the residence.
Officers located the man, who said he had permission to be there and felt he was doing nothing wrong. He stated he had permission to be at the house but wouldn't tell deputies the name of the individual who gave him permission, the report states.
Deputies walked back inside the residence and observed a large number of items strewn about in one of the front rooms. Deputies found clothing, cellphones, a charger plugged into the wall, a backpack, 2 wallets that contained identification belonging to the man, marijuana and a pipe sitting on a chair.
There was food placed in the refrigerated and it was turned on. Dispatch advised the man was on alternative sentencing for trespassing. He was arrested. Bail: $2,000 for unlawful occupancy and $1,000 cash for violation of a suspended sentence.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of second DUI and failure to maintain a lane.
According to the booking report, at approximately 9:48 p.m. a deputy was traveling south on Airport Road in Carson City and observed a vehicle travel over the yellow solid line by approximately a quarter of a truck length for approximately 50 feet.
The deputy followed the vehicle, where it made a right turn on Highway 50 East traveling westbound. While following the vehicle the officer observed it going over the left lane light and then the right lane line several times. The officer activated their lights and pulled the vehicle over in the 2200 block of William Street.
The officer made contact with the driver and could smell and odor of alcohol on his breath. The man looked for his wallet and stated he did not know where it was. The man asked if he could open the door. The officer said that was fine. The man looked everywhere in the cab of the vehicle and then went to the passenger side of the vehicle and still could not find it, the report states.
The officer asked of his registration and insurance. He provided the deputy with an expired temporary moving permit and then two expired registration documents and three expired insurance documents, the report states.
The man consented to standardized field sobriety testing. He admitted to having one non-alcoholic beer. The man showed clues of impairment on the tests. He told the officer he did not want to do the one leg stand and stated he knew that the officer wanted to do a preliminary breath test, the report states.
He declined the preliminary breath test and stated he was not going to decide yes or no after being read the request for voluntary evidence card. The man requested the officer wait 10 minutes. The officer stated he did not have 10 minutes. The man stated he did. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. The deputy secured a blood draw seizure order from a Carson City judge. Two vials of blood were obtained. The man was booked for DUI second, the prior conviction being in September 2021.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday for suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to an injury crash involving a motorcycle in the area of Spooner Drive and Northridge Drive.
Deputies observed a motorcycle on its left side at the roundabout and a man who appeared in pain stating that his back and leg were injured. He stated he turned at the roundabout too hard and the motorcycle slid under him, the report states.
Carson City Fire Department assessed the man's injuries. Officers were notified CCFD smelled an alcoholic beverage coming from the man's breath. The man told CCFD in the ambulance that he admitted he had been drinking but could not remember how much. He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation of injuries. Due to the accident, standardized field sobriety tests could not be conducted.
A deputy arrived at the hospital and spoke with the man and observed the smell of alcohol on his breath. He was read the request for voluntary evidence. He consented to a blood test and stated he had five or six beers at a friend's house with the last drink approximately 30 minutes prior to the crash, the report states. Once he was medically cleared from the hospital he was arrested for suspicion of DUI. He consented to a preliminary breath test with a result of .159.
— A 40-year-old man was arrested Friday for a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear. Bail: $10,000 cash. The warrant was issued out of second judicial court on April 17, 2024.
