TubaChristmas Performs at Wilbur D. May Museum in Reno on Dec. 2
It's once again that time for TubaChristmas! We are seeking all area tuba, baritone, and euphonium players —young and old — to participate in Reno TubaChristmas 2023. This year marks the 50th year of TubaChristmas performances, which started in 1974 at New York City's Rockefeller Center Ice Rink.
This year TubaChristmas is celebrated in over 250 American cities, Canada, Australia, and Costa Rica! TubaChristmas concerts have been performed in Reno since 1989.
The Reno concert will be performed at the Wilbur D. May Museum at Rancho San Rafael Park, 1595 N. Sierra St., on Saturday, December 2. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by rehearsal at 1:00 p.m. The FREE concert begins at 3:00 p.m. Todd DeVito organizes the event, and David Bugli, Music Director and Conductor of the Carson City Symphony, conducts the ensemble. We even encourage the audience to join in and sing many of the carols with the ensemble.
Created in 1974 by Harvey Phillips, TubaChristmas concerts are performed in over 180 cities throughout the United States, and in several foreign countries. The concerts consist of Christmas carols arranged in four-part harmony to be played by tubas, baritones, and euphoniums. The warm organ-like sound wins the ears and hearts of every audience. It is no wonder that TubaChristmas is an established Christmas tradition in cities throughout the world.
