Hole-in-one caps off the first Capital City Disc Golf Championships
Sixty-five competed in the Inaugural Capital City Disc Golf Championships held Oct. 16 at Carson Ridge Disc Golf Park from three states in perfect fall weather.
Mark Turner of Reno took home the No. 1 Battle Tag, $200 cash, a beautifully crafted custom wood-burned elm trophy (by artist Daisy Lopez), and the Title: NV State Capital City Champion. Mark won by 7 strokes (-17 over 27 holes) by capping off his victory with an ACE on the last hole of the Final 9! For his hole-in-one, the only one in the tournament, Mark took home an additional $100.
Seventeen-year-old Frisbee phenom Jedd Berger of Carson City played consistently under pressure on his home course in front of a gallery of 35 spectators following the lead card to capture 2nd place, the No. 2 Battle Tag and his own beautifully crafted live edge elm trophy.
Carson Ridge Disc Golf Club will build off the successes and learn from the shortcomings to make the 2nd Annual Capital City Championships bigger and better next fall!
It all came together through the vision, hard work and planning of our Club and the collaborative efforts of event sponsors, volunteer groups and supporting organizations and Carson City departments:
