C.I.R.C.L.E.S. in the spotlight at Monday's Democratic luncheon
Steve Hedrick, Program Director of the Capital City C.I.R.C.L.E.S. Initiative will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. C.I.R.C.L.E.S. is a cooperative community effort to elevate people out of poverty by intentionally creating relationships across class lines, and empowering them to chart their own course towards self-sufficiency.
The C.I.R.C.L.E.S. mission statement captures the essence of the organization's vision: “In a world of unpredictability, Capital City C.I.R.C.L.E.S. Initiative (CCCI), envisions a community with no working families living in generational poverty. Any individual that is willing to take responsibility for lifting themselves out of poverty has ready access to the resources and support they need to thrive and not just survive.”
Along Steve Hedrick's life path he has taken on quite a diverse assortment of jobs, from pizza chef to raft guide to construction worker to machine gun maker. Having completed a degree in history at the University of Nevada-Reno, he eventually found his way into professional employment in the nonprofit sector. For the past 15 years he's been engaged in a variety of social service-related fields including juvenile rehabilitation, domestic violence, sexual assault, volunteer management, public education, community organizing, and child protective services. Now he draws on that experience to guide others through a holistic, long term and relational path to sustainable change.
An avid reader, Steve loves browsing at used bookstores. In the outdoors he's into mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, whitewater kayaking and target shooting. But his true passion at this stage in life is working alongside others to help create fulfilling lives and relationships.
Sponsored by the Democratic Men's Committee, this event is scheduled for noon on Monday, August 23rd. Steve will be presenting exclusively via Zoom. Those wishing to be on distribution for luncheon links should email Rich Dunn, Men's Committee Events Coordinator, at richdunn@aol.com.
