Jim Fuller wears the Silver Oak Crown at Sunday Men’s Club golf championship
With rounds of 78 and 74, Jim Fuller edged John Owens to win the 2021 Sunday Men’s Club championship at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City.
Fuller’s two-day total of 152 in the two-day club championship Aug. 14-15 was enough to get by first round leaders Owens (73-80) by one stroke and last year’s champion Jim Sapien (73-81) by two. Francisco Delaparra was fourth with rounds of 79-78, while Dan Wilson was fifth with scores of 81-77.
Fuller was also the low net (after handicap is applied) champion over the field with 138, while Dennis Klenczar was second with 142 and Owens with third with 143. Brian Fitzgerald, William Kapczynski and Alex Talmant tied for fourth with 144.
In the three flighted divisions, the first flight net again had Fuller atop with 138, Owens second with 143, Talmant third with 144, Delaparra fourth with 147 and Dennis Baughman fifth with 148.
In the second flight (players with higher handicaps), Klenczar won with a low net of 142, Kapczynski was second with 144 and James Ross was third with 145. Stevan Lyon, Eric Sorensen and Aaron Thacker tied for fourth with 147.
In the third flight, Fitzgerald shot the low net 144, Ryan Balik was second with 145, Gary Yoakum third with 148 and William Pattison fourth with 150.
The Sunday Men's Club season runs every Sunday through Oct. 31 at Silver Oak Golf Course and features weekly games with three flights based on handicap and optional gross and net skins games.

Members of the men’s club receive reduced green fees, range balls every Sunday, Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) service for the year, lunches and awards banquet, prizes, trophies, and access to a web portal to view events and scores each week.
