Silver Oak Senior Men’s Club President’s Cup Winners
This past Thursday, July 6, SOSMC held the second round of an eclectic two round tournament known as the President’s Cup. What makes this competition unique is it’s played over two consecutive tournament Thursdays, but every player gets to use his best score from either round for each hole.
So, if a player has a blowup hole in one round but a better score in the other round, then the better score is used. It’s a fun experience that results in heavy bantering before and after each round.
Winner of the First Flight from the white tees was Jim Fuller with net scores of 67 and 70 for his two rounds. But by taking his best 18 scores the result was a net 61. Second Flight winner was Bill Campbell with net scores of 73 and 62 resulting in a net best 18 score of 59! Jim has a playing handicap of 3, while Bill’s playing handicap is 12.
Winner of the Third Flight from the forward tees was Robert Bartshe with net rounds of 67 and 69 resulting in an 18 hole best net score of 60. Next month SOSMC will hold its Club Championship, another two day event, to determine the top golfer of the club for the year.
