Carson City teen kayaker Sage Donnelly earns gold at International Canoe Federation World Cup
Sage Donnelly of Carson City won the gold medal June 24 in first International Canoe Federation World Cup Extreme Slalom in Liptovsky, Slovakia.
The 17-year-old daughter of trainer-parents, Matt Donnelly and Stephanie Viselli, Sage is a former world champion in freestyle kayak, placing second, has made both Sr. and Jr. Team in Canoe and Kayak Slalom (Olympic Sport) for the past 2 years, is the only first female athlete to represent the USA in the Olympics in Kayak, and for the first time ever-Women's Canoe is now an Olympic sport.
