Letter: Parents and Grandparents Speak-up
The two finalists for the Superintendent hire will be interviewed by the School Board on February 22nd at 8:15am. Robert Crowell Board Room, Community Center, 851 E William Street, Carson City.
Dr. John Goldhardt at 8:30am. Andrew Feuling at 10:30am. Each candidate will make a presentation on the following topic: “Carson City School District is currently refreshing its Strategic Plan. Present your understanding of the District’s Strategic Plan and identify ways to strengthen it”. The Superintendent Candidates will respond to questions posed by the Trustees based on the content of their presentation.
School Board meeting will recess at noon and reconvene at 7pm on the same day and place.
The finalist will be selected in the evening meeting. Public comment will be taken in the evening before the finalist is selected. You can also submit public comment (limit of 3 minutes) via publiccomment@carson-k12.nv.us.
If you have never been to a School Board meeting, this is the one meeting to attend as the Superintendent drives how the students achieve academic excellence, maintain teacher morale and retention.

Carson High School Math and Reading proficiency is 30th in Nevada among 85 High Schools. Carson High School is #27 in Nevada and 4,162 nationally. Graduation rate is 95% but College Readiness Index is 27.4%. Mathematics Proficiency is 30% and Reading Proficiency is 54%.
Carson City High School is 27th among Nevada High Schools with 14 schools in Las Vegas, 6 schools in Reno, 4 schools in Henderson, 1 school each in Minden and Incline Village who ranked higher than Carson City High School. Reno, Galena, Robert McQueen, Damonte and Douglas County High Schools are all ranked higher than Carson High School.
We need an experienced Superintendent who can bring a fresh perspective after 14 years of Superintendent Richard Stokes’s administration.
