Opinion: Carson City's Snow Emergency
I agree wholeheartedly with current complaints about smow removal/abatement in Carson City.
The ordinances are apparently not being enforced.I know this the Wild West but come on man. The city needs to enforce these ordinances on clearing sidewalks.I am originally from Green Bay Wisconsin, and if you do not get your sidewalk sholved whether business or private the city would clear it for you at like 1 a foot.
Another problem I see in this city is that the blows do not get out early enough and the seem to not enough some side streets.
I do not know if this city plowing deficiency is happening because we do not have enough snow plow drivers or there is not enough money in the city budget for snow removal.
Whatever the case the city seems to be doing a poor job keeping all city streets clear.
The method if putting down this brine I believe is good one but it is hit or miss. This most recent snow storm it appears there was no brine put down.
Bottom line is that the city, businesses and even private citizens are doing a poor job dealing with this continued snow emergency.
We can do better, I think people feel that just wait and all this snow will melt. In most years here in Carson City that would be true. But unfortunately this winter is not one of those years.
