Carson City Symphony to begin rehearsals Jan. 10
Attention musicians! The Carson City Symphony will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 6:20 to 8:30 p.m., for its third concert of its 40th season, which is on Feb. 18. Most rehearsals are on Wednesday nights at the Carson High School orchestra room, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.
Current openings are for strings, French horn, trumpets, and oboe. Musicians who are interested in joining should contact the Symphony at 775-883-4154 or email carsoncitysymphony@gmail.com.
The concert will be on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. It will feature vocal soloist Richard (Ricky) Hutton and Carson Chamber Singers in a concert with music by John Williams (Raiders March), Georges Bizet (L'Arlesienne Suite No. 2), William Grant Still (In Memoriam), and Ralph Vaughan Williams (Five Mystical Songs). Lobby entertainment will start at 3:00 p.m., and a concert preview will be at 3:15 p.m.
The Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, is a volunteer orchestra of about 55 players who perform music from the 15th to the 21st centuries. It is open to string players at any time without audition, and to other instrumentalists when positions are available.
