Looking for a place to take your little ones this week? Look no further! Here is a list of family-friendly (and fun!) activities and events happening this week around the capital city.

Reno physician, Dennis Yamamoto, MD, married his wife, Mary (Oberski) Yamamoto, in 1976. Both from large families, their wedding boasted a guest list of 375 people and it was a multi-day affair. It was a big start to what would be nearly 45 years of marriage as they pursued careers — Dr. Yamamoto in medicine and Mary in social work — raised their twin children and celebrated becoming grandparents to four grandsons.

Informative classes on Orthodox Christianity for inquirers are held weekly at St. Sebastian Orthodox Church: the next one is Wednesday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. at 1819 N. Carson Street.

CONNECTIONS social gatherings bring locals together every week for story sharing, conversation and inspiration.

Chapter 7 of the Disabled American Veterans in Carson City is hosting a spaghetti feed and town hall on May 18 at 5 pm. Dinner starts at 5 pm. Presentations from various veteran's agencies and groups will occur between 6 pm and 8 pm.

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties is recruiting for AmeriCorps members to serve part-time this summer.

Join Mountain Vista Baptist Church in Carson City for our Easter Eggstravaganza, March 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. We will have egg hunts broken up by age groups, popcorn, cookies, cotton candy, hot cocoa, and coffee. There will be fun crafts, bounce houses, other games, and the Easter Bunny.

Eagle Valley Middle School LEGO Robotics team got a big boost from the Rotary Club of Carson City this week. The team recently won the state championship and is the only team from Nevada to be invited to the World Festival in Houston, Texas. Rotary Club members donated $3,000.00 to help defray travel expenses.

Clear Creek Bowmen Hell or High Water Shoot is this Sunday, March 24 at the Carson City Archery Range, just East of Eagle Valley Golf Course. The event is open to the public.

Carson High School Senior Michael Hughes, 18, was crowned ‘Mr. Carson High’ Friday evening at the school’s cheerleader fundraising event in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

The sweet little girl doing a turtle imitation under her cat bed is hoping her new family will come and adopt her soon.

CASI will be hosting our annual Bark Whine & Dine Dinner, Music and Auction fundraiser on Saturday, April 27 at Casino Fandango. Proceeds to benefit spay/neuter and emergency medical outreach.

Soroptimist International of Carson City has its Spring Fling Bunco fundraiser scheduled for April 11th. The event will include a baked potato bar with all the accoutrements and a no host bar starting at 5:30pm. The event will be held at the Elks Club, 515 N Nevada Street in Carson City.

We are inviting the public to join us for a Scandinavian Cookie Making Demonstration! Explore the Nordic cultures of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden through their cookies. Demonstration will include making the cookies, and of course, tasting these delicious delicacies.

Carson City Supervisor Lisa Schuette will be hosting ‘Coffee with Lisa’ Wednesday, April 10, at the Cracker Box, 402 E. William Street from 7 to 8:30 a.m. All are welcome to come and discuss ideas, ask questions and share suggestions.
