Carson City sheriff's briefing provides more information, photos of officer involved shooting

The Carson City Sheriff's Office held a press briefing Monday that provided more details into the Feb. 22 standoff with a man that resulted in an officer involved shooting.
Luis Santana, 21, of Carson City, was shot in the leg area twice and is at Renown Medical Center in Reno. He faces charges of suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, third and fourth degree arson, and misdemeanor obstructing.

A 36-year-old man was arrested Friday, Feb. 25 for suspicion of felony residential burglary, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Retired public works deputy director Curtis Horton to run for Carson City Supervisor Ward 3

Longtime Carson City resident Curtis Horton has announced his candidacy for Carson City Supervisor Ward 3.
Horton worked in the city’s public works department for more than 35 years, starting as a water crewman. He moved up through the ranks to the department’s Deputy Director before retiring in 2020.
