Dateline Saudi Arabia, where 40 Botox enhanced camels were recently disqualified from a beauty contest. Personally, I feel sorry for those camels, as I had a personal experience with Botox myself that I’m almost too embarrassed to talk about.
Proposed UNR acquisition of Sierra Nevada University clears accreditation hurdle

RENO — The Executive Committee of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities has voted to approve the proposal for the acquisition of Sierra Nevada University by the University of Nevada, Reno, contingent upon the approval of the United States Department of Education.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — It keeps snowing around Lake Tahoe, the Sierra, and down to lower elevations that don't normally see snow measured in "feet." A Winter Storm Warning is in place for the Lake Tahoe Basin until 1 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28.

I-580 through Washoe Valley remained closed Monday morning from Bowers Mansion Exit 16 southbound to the Carson City side of Eastlake, northbound. There's no estimated time to reopen. Traffic is being diverted onto Alt Highway 395.

Strong winds topple trees, snap branches around Carson City

Damaging winds knocked down a large pine tree on West Washington Street in Carson City on Sunday afternoon, smashing a truck and narrowly missing the home, said Carson Now reader Mike Pauley.
No one was injured. The tree came down around 12:40 p.m. causing major damage to Pauley's truck and some damage around the garage's eves and gutter.
