Carson City Planning Commission approves permit for Carson Valley Meats processing and packaging facility

On Thursday, the Carson City Planning Commission approved the special use permit for a meat processing and packaging facility off of Highway 50.

The project proposes a 4.43 acres with a 5,000 square foot building and a 5,600 square foot loading and corral area that would be used to harvest and process local livestock animals.

Press Foundation sells Carson City's Rinckel Mansion for $1.2M, to become bed-and-breakfast

The Nevada Press Foundation announced Thursday that it sold its headquarters building at 102 N. Curry St. in downtown Carson City earlier this month. The property was purchased by Sarah Martin, who intends to operate the building as a bed-and-breakfast and public tea room. The sale price was $1.2 million.

Low water flow forces cancellation of Fall Fish Festival at Tahoe's Taylor Creek

Due to ongoing drought conditions and low water levels at Fallen Leaf Lake causing dry conditions in Taylor Creek, the Fall Fish Festival, held annually at the Lake Tahoe Forest Service visitor center, has been canceled. The festival was also canceled in 2020 due to COVID concerns.

A 30-year-old man was arrested early Thursday for suspicion of felony eluding, a felony parole violation warrant and five misdemeanor offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

DAYTON — First round leader Sklyer Finnell, Santa Fe, Calif. carded a 3-under 66 in the second round for an 11-under 133 total at the halfway point to maintain a share of the lead. He was joined atop the leaderboard by Gregory Moss, Sherman Oaks, Calif. with the low second round of 6-under 66 and David Bradshaw, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. who carded a 5-under 67.
