Carson City investigators: Vehicle burglary suspect steals credit card, tries to use it at Target

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for help in identifying a suspect in a vehicle burglary and a credit card fraud investigation.
Consumers should be on alert for flood-damaged vehicles when purchasing used cars in Nevada

CARSON CITY – The Division of Insurance is warning Nevada consumers to be on the lookout for flood-damaged vehicles when considering purchasing a car in Nevada. Even though it has been several months since Hurricanes Irma and Harvey devastated Texas and Florida, there were thousands of vehicles that were damaged in the two storms. Some of these vehicles may be making their way to Nevada.
John Bullis: Section 179 Depreciation Deduction

There is a special deduction for businesses that buy personal property for use in the business. Section 179 deduction is for the cost of equipment (new or used) and Qualified Real Property that is purchased and placed in service before the end of the year.

Person of interest in Lake Tahoe casino homicide in custody

Authorities say a person of interest in the Oct. 3 homicide at Hard Rock Casino at Lake Tahoe in Stateline was arrested in Sparks last week, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE WEDNESDAY: A celebration of life funeral service for Timothy Jones will be Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, 11 a.m. in Carson City at Calvary Chapel church, 1635 Clearview Drive.

UPDATE 3:08PM: The following is a statement from Carson City School District Superintendent Richard Stokes regarding the passing of Timothy Jones.
“Our hearts ache for all the families and individuals involved in the car accident in Kings Canyon. We learned yesterday from law enforcement that one of our students passed away. Throughout the day today, the administration at Carson High School has provided and will continue to provide, as needed this week, grief counseling and support for students and staff. As more is learned about a memorial service, we will pass that information along.”

Family members confirmed via social media Sunday that 16-year-old Carson High School student Timothy Jones, one of seven students involved in a Nov. 9 crash on Kings Canyon, has died.
